From the Chair - April 2025

Hello Members,

It really doesn’t seem twelve months since becoming chair of our u3a, where has the time gone! I think that we as a committee have achieved quite a lot in the twelve months - as an example we have organised our 25th Anniversary, held the first Group leader meeting (second one planned for this month), pulled together a successful bid for funding for our archaeology group, organised first aid training for the outside groups, reviewed and updated our policies.

All of which means that the committee are busy with preparations for this year's AGM, none more so than Jo Gray who has the job of organising it all. For our new members the AGM forms part of our regular monthly get together, we take a little time before the speaker starts to go through the agenda items.

As you know it is this time of the year when all of the committee stand down and have to be re-elected into their posts in order to serve for another year, the documents will start coming out soon so please watch out for them.

We have nominations for most of the posts with the exception of the communication lead, so if you think you would like to come and join our happy bunch in that role, or in fact put your name forward for any of the committee positions please do so.

On a different note we are currently working on constructing a Facebook page where we will be able to post information, hopefully broaden the local knowledge of the u3a and what we do, this will complement our website, again watch this space.

Look forward to seeing you at the AGM

Carl
